Is Gambling Online a Form of Professional Gambling?

Gambling Online is any type of gambling conducted over the internet. This includes casinos, virtual poker and sports betting. This was the first internet gambling venue open to the public, when the world renowned Liechtenstein International Casino and Spa opened to the public in October 1994. Since then there have been numerous sites developed that offer this form of gambling. Today, internet gambling has become widespread throughout the world.

In most states it is against the law to conduct gambling online. Each state has different laws regulating gambling online and it is illegal to operate an online casino in a particular state if it is illegal in that state. Gambling online can be legalized as long as all three conditions are met: the site is licensed by the state, it has no payment scheme known as a “loan” and it pays winners in a fair and lawful way. No matter how you look at the matter, however, it still doesn’t make gambling online illegal. What makes it illegal is the fact that some states, such as Illinois, have placed restrictions and capitol laws on what a website allows its users to do.

Some of these “gambling laws” are quite confusing. Illinois, for example, specifically bans all online casinos, whether they are operated for profit or not. The only way around this ban is to set up an LLC (for profit) or a strictly limited liability corporation (LLC). While Illinois has put forth a law that makes online gambling against the law, the courts have allowed online casinos to go on. This is despite the fact that the state cannot seem to come up with any rationale for why gambling should be banned

Some people claim that the U.S. Department of Justice will just leave things alone and allow the states to police themselves. This is simply not true. When states try to enforce anti-gambling laws in court, the government has very little success. Just recently, a Maryland court heard an argument from a lawyer claiming that the state law banning Gambling Online was an illegal encroachment onto the rights of the individual. While the Maryland court ultimately decided in favor of the state, this still does not mean that future Maryland court cases will be successful in attempts to ban Gambling Online altogether. Therefore, there is still work to be done.

One way that Gambling Online may become illegal in the future is through the inception of an online “pirate” site. Pirate sites do not care about being illegal; all they want to do is make a buck. They may create guides, software, and tools which allow Gambling Online players to play with fake money and win real money. If these illegal websites get a large enough number of visitors, they might actually start putting Gambling Online players in jail.

In addition, as discussed above, there is very little the government can do to help regulate Gambling Online. In order to be on the safe side, Gambling Online players are encouraged to play at legitimate casino sites. When playing at a legitimate casino site, you will be protected by the law makes up for your losses. Play at a site where you have the best chance of winning, rather than simply placing your bet and hoping that it will win.

Of course, as with any other type of legal activity, Gambling Online players need to follow the law, and they also need to follow the rules of the gambling games they play. For example, players who bet more than they can afford must pay out of their own pocket before they can withdraw. On the other hand, if you are playing at an online gambling casino, and you lose your entire deposit, you will not be able to take any of your winnings until you either mail or wire the money to another account. However, since most online gambling websites offer instant withdrawal services, it should not take too long to get your money from the casino.

Gambling Online certainly presents some unique challenges for players, but as long as they know what they are and aren’t doing, it shouldn’t pose any legal problem. Although the spirit of Gambling Online may not be considered to be “preliminary” in nature, the same principles that apply to regular sports betting will also apply. If you are considering placing a bet on a game that you may not fully understand, it is important to remember that the US Congress has placed Gambling at the top of their list of unregulated industries. Gambling has taken on an entire new meaning in the US thanks to our broken economy, so it is important to tread carefully. If you are looking to place a bet at a licensed online gambling site, you will have every bit as much security as if you were placing a bet at a traditional brick and mortar establishment.
